Learning Support Teacher

A vacancy exists for a Part Time (0.60 FTE) Learning Support Teacher in our Senior School, for students in Years 10 – 12, including those undertaking studies in VCAL and VCE. The successful applicant will join a strong and committed team of educators and support staff, led by the Director of Student Support. This position will commence in January 2022.

EAL Teacher

We have a position available for a passionate and innovative Christian Educator. This position is part time (0.80 FTE), ongoing, beginning January 2022.

This is a newly created role within our school to meet the needs of our EAL learners. You will work within a supportive team and bring recent EAL teaching and learning experience in Australian classroom settings. Experience working with students and families from a refugee background is highly desirable. You will lead innovative EAL teaching practice in a K-12 setting. Your ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across the school is vital. This is a challenging and enormously rewarding role with the opportunity to grow a program from the beginning. You will be supported by the Cultural Liaison Coordinator, two Hakha Chin speaking Cultural Liaison Officers and one Youth Worker.

Learning Assistant

We have a part-time position available for a Learning Assistant (Teacher’s Aide), commencing 2022. This position will be a minimum 3 days a week and in the Primary School.

The applicant should be suitably qualified, have previous experience in a similar role and be highly motivated. Applicants must have a Working with Children Card and current Police Record Check.

Learning Assistants have a broad role. They undertake a variety of duties which mostly comprise assisting teachers and supporting students in the classroom and other educational activities, and providing attendant care and assistance to students, as required. The position may also include some administrative or clerical tasks, and assistance with resources in a variety of school settings, such as the classroom, library and laboratories.

First Aid Trainer - Ranges TEC

Ranges TEC is an innovative Trade Training Centre in the outer east of Melbourne with an associated RTO that provides first aid training to a number of large schools among other community organisations. We provide full and half day sessions for teachers as well as members of the public. Our courses generally include the Victorian units dealing with Asthma and Anaphylaxis (22578VIC & 22556VIC) and involve online pre-work to ensure that the face to face sessions are very practical. We are expanding this operation and are seeking trainers with a passion for engaging and practical first aid training.

As a first aid trainer with Ranges TEC, you will be employed on a casual basis with the majority of the training occurring between December and February each year. You will be required to provide full day and half day sessions as a single trainer who is part of a team providing concurrent sessions at the same location. You will be required to complete summary session documentation as well as more detailed individual assessment notes and ensure that equipment is well maintained and appropriately stored. There will be some travel required around metropolitan Melbourne. You will be required to ensure that you invest time in professional development and currency of skills outside the contracted time.

CRT Employment Applications

We are seeking applicants for Casual Relief Teachers to cover Primary and Secondary School. Casual Relief Teachers are generally engaged at short notice, usually for a half-day or full day, and occasionally several days at a time. New graduates and experienced teachers are welcome to apply.

Certificate IV in Education Support - Student Placement

MECS provides a limited number of student placement positions for those completing their Certificate IV in Education Support. Placements can be in the Primary or Secondary school. People completing their Education Support student placement at MECS will be provided with support to complete assignments set by their course provider. In addition to this, placement students will be allocated to a variety of educational settings within the school at the direction of the Education Support Coordinators.

Due to the high demand for placement positions, applicants for student placement positions are required submit a written application as per below. Applicants will then be invited to a short interview to ensure their suitably for the MECS workplace.
