Current Vacancies

Mount Evelyn Christian School (MECS) is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and skilled piano teacher commencing Term 1, 2024. This is a fixed contract until the end of the 2024 school year and could suit a new graduate or an experienced teacher.

The applicant should be suitably qualified, have previous experience in a similar role and teach in a way that keeps students motivated and well organised. They must be able to teach piano in the genre of contemporary music, along with notation, theory and improvisation.

Applicants must have a Working with Children Check Card and a current Police Record Check.

We would like the successful applicant to wholeheartedly join a team implementing a distinctively Christian approach to education. Most students will be secondary.

Key selection criteria

  • Is passionate about piano and able to inspire mostly secondary students with a love and appreciation for music.
  • Experience in playing and teaching contemporary music with chords and improvisation
  • Can bring a distinctively Christian perspective to the teaching of music.

Mount Evelyn Christian School has a position available for a part-time, 2 days a week School Counsellor, commencing in Term 2, Monday 15th April, 2024.

Mount Evelyn Christian School provides Christ-centred schooling with learning experiences that challenge each student to actively live for God in His world while partnering with Christian parents in the nurture of their children.

The School Counsellor is responsible for some of the more complex pastoral care needs of students at Mount Evelyn Christian School. They will provide spiritual and emotional support to the MECS community.

To be successful in the role, you will need to be suitably qualified (experience in a school setting preferred), confident working with students and teachers, be able to meet the requirements of the job and wholeheartedly join a team implementing a distinctively biblical approach to education. Applicants must have a Working with Children Card and a current Police Record Check.

Mount Evelyn Christian School has a short-term position available for a Maths Secondary Teacher commencing in Term 2, 2024.

The contract would be from Monday 29th April, 2024 – Wednesday 12th June, 2024 (approx. 6.5 weeks).

The FTE is 0.63 across 4 days per week (Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri)

This position will involve teaching Maths to Year 7, 8 and 9 students. Experience in Maths Pathways is preferable but not essential.

The successful applicants will need to:

  • Be in agreement with, and actively commit to, the Christian ethos and Core Values as expressed in the MECS ‘Focus On Identity’ document, found on our website.
  • Demonstrate skill and experience as a Secondary Teacher.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills and have the capacity to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Be able to prioritise, problem solve, demonstrate initiative and utilise common sense.

Mount Evelyn Christian School has a position available for a Science & Health Secondary Teacher commencing Monday 15th April, 2024. This is a fixed contract position, ending 21st January 2025. This is a 0.35 – 0.5 FTE position, across an 8-9 day fortnight. There is the possibility of increased hours for the right applicant.

We are seeking applicants for Casual Relief Teachers to cover Primary and Secondary School. Casual Relief Teachers are generally engaged at short notice, usually for a half-day or full day, and occasionally several days at a time. New graduates and experienced teachers are welcome to apply.

MECS provides a limited number of student placement positions for those completing their Certificate IV in Education Support. Placements can be in the Primary or Secondary school. People completing their Education Support student placement at MECS will be provided with support to complete assignments set by their course provider. In addition to this, placement students will be allocated to a variety of educational settings within the school at the direction of the Education Support Coordinators.

Due to the high demand for placement positions, applicants for student placement positions are required submit a written application as per below. Applicants will then be invited to a short interview to ensure their suitably for the MECS workplace.
